Insulation Built for Green Bay Winters
Spray foam insulation in Green Bay does two jobs at once: it fills the space and it stops air from moving through it. That matters in a city where normals from Austin Straubel airport show about 68 days a year at or below freezing and 19 nights below zero. Warm air that leaks out through the attic and the rim joist is the heat you paid for, and it is also what melts roof snow into ice dams. We are spray foam insulation contractors who also blow in loose fill and remove old insulation, so the quote you get is built around your house, not around one product.
What we work on most
Older homes near downtown and on the east side often have a few inches of settled fill in the attic, open rim joists in the basement and walls with little or nothing in them. Newer homes in Howard, Bellevue and Suamico tend to have decent attic depth but cold rooms over garages and leaky bonus-room kneewalls. Detached garages, pole buildings and shops are a big part of the work, too, since closed-cell foam on steel or wood framing stops condensation and holds heat.
Closed cell vs open cell
Closed-cell foam is dense and rigid, rated at R-5 to R-7 per inch by HomeGuide. It slows water vapor at normal thickness, adds stiffness and is our usual pick for rim joists, foundation walls, crawl spaces and steel buildings. Open-cell foam is soft and expands far more, rated at R-3.5 to R-3.7 per inch. It seals air and quiets sound for less money per square foot and suits interior cavities and roof lines where a vapor plan is in place. Many houses get both, plus blown-in cellulose (R-3.1 to R-3.8 per inch) on the attic floor.
What the code asks for here
Brown County is in Climate Zone 6A. Wisconsin's Uniform Dwelling Code is based on the 2009 IECC with state amendments, and the Insulation Institute's summary lists R-49 for ceilings and R-20, or R-13 plus R-5 continuous, for wood-frame walls in Zone 6. Existing homes do not have to be brought up to those numbers, but they are a useful target when you add insulation.
Spray foam insulation cost
National guides put installed spray foam at $1.50 to $5.00 per square foot (HomeGuide), with closed cell at the high end. A whole house runs $8,000 to $20,000 by HomeGuide's numbers and $10,000 to $30,000 by Fixr's, and many installers set a minimum of $1,000 to $2,000. Rim joists alone usually fall around $2,000 to $2,500. Your price comes from measuring the actual areas, and the written estimate is what you pay.
Choosing insulation contractors and companies
Whoever you hire, ask the same questions: which foam goes where and at what thickness, how they handle ventilation and cure time (HomeGuide advises staying out for at least 24 hours), what they do about wiring and old insulation, and whether the quote lists R-values area by area. A clear answer to each one tells you more than a low price does. Get a free estimate
Towns We Serve Around the Bay
We work in Green Bay and the communities around it: De Pere, Ashwaubenon and Allouez along the Fox River; Bellevue and Ledgeview on the east side; Howard, Suamico and Little Suamico to the north and west; Hobart and Lawrence in the growing southwest; Scott along the bay shore; and farther out in Pulaski, Denmark, Luxemburg and Oconto. The housing changes a lot from one to the next. Allouez and the older Green Bay neighborhoods are mostly built out and full of mid-century homes. Hobart, Lawrence and Ledgeview added thousands of houses in the last 25 years. The rural towns mix farmhouses, pole sheds and newer builds on acreage. Each town page below covers what we see there.

Why Homeowners Call Spray Foam Insulation Green Bay
We look before we price
A free visit to the attic, basement and garage comes before any number, so the quote matches the house and not a guess over the phone.
Foam where it pays, fill where it does not
Closed cell on rims and foundation walls, open cell where it fits, blown-in on open attic floors. You see the reasoning on the written quote.
Problems come first
Roof leaks, damp framing, bath fans venting into the attic and old wiring get flagged before we cover anything up.
Clear cure and re-entry times
We explain how long the space stays off-limits after spraying and ventilate the work area while foam cures.
Common Questions
How much should I expect to pay for spray foam insulation in Green Bay?
HomeGuide lists installed spray foam at $1.50 to $5.00 per square foot, with open cell at $1.50 to $3.50 and closed cell at $3.00 to $5.00. A rim joist job is often $2,000 to $2,500 and a whole house $8,000 to $20,000. We measure your areas and give you a written number.
Why do some people call spray foam a red flag?
The worry usually comes from bad installs: foam sprayed too thick in one pass, wrong mix ratios that leave an odor, or foam on a roof deck that hides a leak. Proper thickness per pass, ventilation, a clean substrate and a record of what was installed address most of it. We give you that record in writing.
Is there a downside to spray foam insulation?
It costs more per square foot than blown-in fill, it needs a cure period before you go back in, and it is hard to remove once applied. That is why we do not put it everywhere. On an open attic floor, sealed and then blown, fill often gives more R-value per dollar.
Why is it sometimes harder to sell a house with spray foam?
Some buyers, inspectors and lenders get nervous when they cannot see the roof deck or framing behind foam, especially in an attic. Keeping the install record, foam type, thickness and dates helps. Using foam on rims and walls, not covering a roof deck you may need to inspect, also avoids most of the concern.
What attic insulation level makes sense in Green Bay?
The Wisconsin code summary lists R-49 for ceilings in Zone 6, which is where Brown County falls. In blown cellulose that is roughly 13 to 16 inches, depending on the product. Sealing the ceiling first matters as much as the depth.
Do you offer Focus on Energy rebates?
Focus on Energy, Wisconsin's statewide program, has published rebates for attic, wall, foundation and sill insulation and for air sealing done along with insulation, paid through its registered Trade Ally contractors. Program terms change each period, so check focusonenergy.com before you count on one.
